The GPSPhotoLinker software adds GPS location data to photos. It is an Apple Mac OS X Leopard application that works well with Garmin GPS units. We tested it with a Garmin nuvi 255w and a Sony DSC-F707 camera. This is a good solution to geotagging photos without having to buy specialized equipment.
The GPSPhotoLinker is the choice of a good article about Mac geotagging software. Several other packages are evaluated too.
The GPSBabel software included in GPSPhotoLinker did not work with the Garmin nuvi. The USB drives dismounted for some reason when choosing to "download from GPS". Loading tracks and waypoints directly from the Garmin/GPX/Current.gpx file worked fine.
When using with Apple's iPhoto, unload the camera into a working folder, add the GPS data with GPSPhotoLinker, then import into iPhoto. With the Google Picasa Uploader, photos with GPS data can be uploaded from iPhoto into Picasa web albums.
