This is a compliation of issues and observations from installing and using Shelly 2.5 Home Control Modules. It will be updated as things happen.
- While installing the second Shelly 2.5, it reset. Apparently during testing before fulling installing the device, the switch paddle was toggled enough times to factory reset the device. According to Shelly Facebook Support ten switches are required within one minute of power to factory reset but this device has been on for more than a minute.
- While installing device 4, the SW2 screw stripped in the terminal strip. The wiring is 14 AWG solid.
- Device 3 was factory reset from the web interface to rename the device. When the device booted it had a partial web interface. An attempt to name the device failed. The device never completed the save. After a couple more attempts the device will not produce a web interface. It is pingable and the Shelly AP wireless can be joined but no web interface to confgure it. Factory resets via the switch toggle method and the physical reset buttton on the device fail to produce a web interface. The Shelly app was also unable to configure the device.
Conclusion: The devices seem pretty nice but they are a bit fragile. Five devices are installed. Hopefully future power glitches will not destroy them all, that is a fear.
