Renogy Modbus Protocol Information

Using BarkinSpider's Modbus script to monitor a Renogy Wanderer 10Amp Solar Charge Controller

Typically Modbus slaves use addresses between 1 and 247. It appears that the Renogy Wanderer uses address 255. The Renogy Modbus documentation implies the addresses are between 1 and 247. The Renogy forums describe the Bluetooth BT-2 sets the address to hex 0x60.

My experience is that minimalmodbus will not work with the Wanderer serial port unless the slave address is set to 255.

Perhaps the default is 255 until a Renogy device is attached and sets it to another value.
