Ultraviolet Duct Light

An air health UV home air sanitizer was installed in the return duct of the heating and air conditioning system. An ultraviolet light will kill some airborne creatures as they pass through the duct, with an advertised claim to make the air more healthy. The installation was easy, taking less than a day.

The air+health uv home air sanitizer was purchased at Home Depot. Their prices are much better than an Air Conditioning supply company. The product is easiest to install on square duct but our system is all round duct. A flat duct cap was found at Lowes and it was trimmed and bent to fit against the curved surface of the system return duct. It was placed near the refrigerant coils per the installation instructions.

Duct sealing mastic was used to make the assembly air tight. The light was installed and twisted into place per the instructions. The light runs all the time so it just had to be plugged into an available outlet.

There is no immediately detectable change in the air quality. Time will tell if it does any good.
