Commodore 64 Based Home Control System circa 1986

The first iteration of a home control system was built on a Rockwell AIM 65 home computer. The next version was on a Commodore 64. The concept was a Touch Tone decoder interfaced to an X10 Home controller with the computer. The house telephones were powered locally and normally interfaced to the computer. Touch Tone key sequences were translated into X10 control codes to operate lamps and appliances in the house. A double throw relay on an X10 appliance module was used to switch the telephones from the internal system to the local telephone company when incoming or outgoing calls were desired.

A lot of assembly code (large file 6MB pdf) was written. BASIC code was tried but was too slow responding to the key sequences.

No photos were taken of the complete system but the Touch Tone Decoder remains as do a few other Photos.
